Staff Requirements
- State/Federal Criminal Background checks and Central Registry
- Drug tests as applicable under Stephen Komninos’ Law
- Division mandated training ( College of Direct Support)
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Possess a valid driver’s license and abstract (not to exceed 5 points) if driving is required
- Adult CPR and first Aide (American Red Cross Association)
- Have at least two years of experience working with individuals with ID/DD.
- Staff providing Sign Language Interpreter Services must meet the following: Successfully passed the New Jersey Division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DDHH) Screening; -OR- Certified by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
Self-Directed employee (SDE) Job Description
- SDEs assist participants with disabilities or healthcare needs by providing participants with safe living environments, teach life skills, and assisting them with daily tasks.
- Support participants in essential living skills, guaranteeing they are living the life that reflects their HOPES and DREAMS.
- Provide positive direction and encouragement through relationship building and direct interaction.
- Advocate for participant’s in all outlooks of life, including community engagement while advocating for their diverse choices.
